I’m certain you are following and continuing to pray for those affected by the tragedy in Nepal as well as our friends and orphanage in the city of Kalimpong, India, less than 300 miles away. You can read the blog from our partner, Asia’s Hope, for local details. Please allow me to reiterate what I mentioned last Sunday, and invite you again to give financially to the global relief effort. Here is a recent CNN headline:
More than 4,800 people dead. More than 9,200 injured. Eight million affected across Nepal. One million children urgently in need of help.
Because of the indigenous relationships God has orchestrated for us in the region we are in the rare position of being able to direct our financial support precisely and fully to clearly identified and urgent needs, and to impact the very issue highlighted by CNN – orphans. I see our partnership there and the work that Greg, Adam and others have done to get us there, as undeniably orchestrated by God.
It’s simple enough to give:
- Click here to give through Vista;
- Write a check to Vista (memo Nepal), or
- Click here to give through Asia’s Hope
If you commit, for example, $20/month for 2 years to our orphanage ($480), we can match your gift and send $480 out of our global missions fund to Nepal. We would LOVE to have many of you take this approach so that we can simultaneously support both the current Nepal need and continue to build support for the long term ministry of the orphanage.
I realize this idea seems a bit opportunistic and if we were somehow gaining from it locally I might feel sheepish, but I’m utterly convinced that these are two critical issues which both deserve our sacrificial generosity.
Thank you church, you’ve already responded as I suspected you would…
