We’re now a few days into the 40 Days preceding Easter, and I thought I’d check in and see how it’s going! Remember, our goal isn’t perfection, its greater depth. Many of us can move a bit closer to God through the addition of one quite time each week – say, Wednesday morning for 15 minutes as an example. Others might meet with God personally on a daily basis already – for them to go deeper is equally challenging. It’s not just about the length of time spent. Or you might want to join others in the 40 Day class each of the next few Sunday mornings at 9:15am. Take a step and commit to it. One way to profoundly move along in this journey with Jesus is to focus on something.
We designed our 40 Days “curriculum” (get some at our 40 Days Resources page), to pick through the unavoidable cultural soup of “truth” we are fed daily and to seek God in understanding where we’re been duped…or should i say souped!…into wrong thinking about God. We’re basically asking, what beliefs do we hold that have no biblical support, and equally critical, where do our actions and attitudes drift away from our biblical beliefs? Each of the five daily studies per week are designed to help you open the Bible and learn, and then think about how to truly apply and live out truth in our very lives. All this is what we mean around here when we set out the challenge to follow Jesus! Let me also suggest that you supplement your studies with another resource we put together – especially those leading groups. It’s a booklet with lots of embedded scripture and instruction – there’s only one study per week, but it’s got vital information and direction to support your leaning and application of the topics. Don’t miss this annual opportunity to prepare your heart and mind for a renewed appreciation for our savior as we celebrate Easter…in 37 days!
