Now that’s a big forklift. Yet, maybe not big enough for the lift we have coming mid-December!
Apart from weekly Sunday services, our annual Christmas program is Vista’s single largest and most personally demanding outreach of the year. Success will include and require everybody…and without a doubt requires the joy and strength of God within us. That’s good, not bad! It’s good to need a “big God”…to be stretched beyond our normal limits…because that’s when we experience a “big God!” The Christmas Extravaganza is an exercise in dependence upon God – and it actually doesn’t get any better than that!
From a scheduling perspective it’s a nine-day agenda that requires a sober review by you and your group and/or family – particularly for those of you in the Choir/Orchestra/Crew and/or Musical Worship Team and/or Kids Community.
But also, and maybe most importantly, remember the relational work associated with the investments and invitations and accompanying with friends, neighbors and associates whom you’re hoping to bring.
Here’s the way it all maps out:
16 days of missional work (Dec 9th to Dec 24th)
Sun, Dec. 9 – Full Dress Rehearsal
Fri, Dec. 14 – Program 1
Sat, Dec. 15 – Program 2
Sat, Dec. 15 – Program 3
Sun, Dec. 16 – Program 4 (in place of normal Sunday services)
Sun, Dec. 16 – Program 5
Sun, Dec. 23 – Regular services (Christmas Program God stories!)
Mon, Dec. 24 – Christmas Eve services (times TBD)
12 days of rest and refreshment (Dec 25th to Jan 5th)
Sun, Dec 30 – No services
Wed, Jan 2 & Thurs, Jan 3 – Music Team practices
Sun, Jan 6 – Resume regular services
If you don’t happen to be in choir, orchestra or crew, then anticipate an expectation of serving to support at least one of the five programs. Please e-mail Lee Ann Dewey if you’d like to sign up now to serve in hospitality, parking, Connections, ushers, Kids Community or set-up/tear-down.
Welcome to the 29th chapter of Acts – the deeply challenging and equally fulfilling ongoing advancement of God’s good news!
