Well, most all those heading back to school are already back with the exception of a notable state college. And as families prepare for a new school year, many are simultaneously evaluating their schedules, their life-balance, and their overall personal development. Many will conclude that their schedule demands are too high, but seemingly out of their control. That they work too much and that if they have any potential regret it might include the amount of time they spent with the loved ones – as time passes so much more quickly than we truly desire. They’ll look in the mirror and conclude that their mid-section is larger and lower among other indications of age and less-than-enough activity. Finally, if they linger long enough and peer a bit more deeply into their own reflection, they’ll question their emotional and possibly even their spiritual/moral health.
Like the turn of a new year, September, the turn of summer, and the beginning of the school year is a natural time to start fresh. And for that reason, it’s also a great time for us to invest and invite – invest in others and invite them to Vista. Take time to talk with those in your circles about how their family is doing with the transitions and changes; ask about their summer and expect good as well as painful reports; offer encouragement as necessary and even offer to pray for them. And if the conversation lends itself to an invitation, invite them to look at our website where they can see what Vista is up to – because YOU’RE excited for what WE’RE talking about and what WE’RE doing! Hopefully what we do at Vista creates a space where they can be encouraged and challenged in a personally meaningful way. Invest and invite!
