Hey I wanted to make you aware of a very powerful initiative garnering national attention right in our own backyard, lead by one of our very own Vista members, Judge Paul Herbert. Many of you know the Judge and the unique call God has on his life, and some of you are actively involved alongside him with CATCH.
I bring this to your attention for two reasons. First, I simply want you to know about it, but second, I want you to think about it. Not think about CATCH (although that’s fine too!), but to think about why Judge Paul does what he does and where he does it. It’s not complicated. Paul looked at the needs right under his nose and listened to God. He didn’t make some random choice about where God might be sending him. He simply, humbly, allowed God to show him where the needs where that he was uniquely, locally, equipped to impact and change. He will be the first tell you he didn’t generate the idea, nor is he singularly responsible (or able to explain) the resource supply to make it happen.
I would certainly and heartily endorse Paul and his program as something you might consider supporting, but more so (and the Judge would agree, so you know it’s true) I would encourage you to see the needs in your space, and ask God to guide and equip you to be instrumental there, first. When Isaiah was commissioned (Is 6) it worked the same way…he was convicted of his own short-sightedness, listened to God, humbly saw his own inadequacies, but finally saw the needs in front of himself and said, “Here am I. Send me!”
You are the church, church. Go!
Paul’s is a truly inspiring story that pales only in comparison to the changed lives of those he serves. He is a genuine hero in the faith to me, and I suspect you will not regret the 12 minutes required to review the 10TV WBNS story, click the “CATCH Court” video link on the 10TV site.
Oh, and by the way, some of the ladies graduated from the CATCH progam have started a trendy and unique catering business called Freedom a la Cart that will be serving lunch at the Vista Dublin baptism/picnic this Sunday, June 30th @ Jerome HS. How about that!?
Thanks Judge! Thanks God! Thanks Church!
